About Cllr Johnson:

I have lived in Chester-le-Street for 40 years, originally from Newcastle, 18 years living on Farden Farm Estate and 22 years loving living in Waldridge Village.
My daughters all went to local schools and still live with their families within the Parrish or very near. Being an extended family living in the Parrish provides me with the broadest understanding of the needs of the different demographic groups that live here  from the doģ walkers on the fell to the kids playing on the Millennium Green.
I have recently retired from the Department of Health with a career that has given me many varied opportunities from working on Intensive Care in Newcastle when the speciality was just beginning to proving expert knowledge to the Parliamentary Select Committee for Education which contributed to the current free nursery provision for children to working with the NHS to pilot a national implementation programme to standardise the Health Visiting service across the country including new development assessments for 0-5 year olds.

During the Pandemic I returned to nursing to support the local vaccine centres.

Now I’m happily retired and just love the open spaces we have around us where I can walk my Springer Spaniel and spend time with my family.

So why did I become a Councillor? I guess so we can continually protect and improve the beautiful environment we live in which in turn improves our wellbeing.
Would anyone be interested in a dog walking club?
